My Trip to the Zoo and Stuff...

Yesterday I went to Jacksonville zoo. It was like fifty times bigger than the one in Auckland. There were lots of animals so I decided that I should write about some of them. But first things first, on Saturday I had a race (which I won by the way). After that I went out for dinner with my dads running group. They were all American and they said that they LOVED! my accent, which is weird because they did not know what I was saying the whole time. Also that night I got to go on a beer tour. It's strange because hops (barley) tasted like coffee and we found out that they sell the beer there for four dollars each. But it only costs 50 CENTS TO MAKE! Then we found out that all the equipment in the grinding room alone cost three million US dollars. There are some words that they say differently here, like a footpath they do not know what that is, they call the footpaths side walks or pavements. Jelly is jam, but jello is jelly. Also what they call a biscuit we call a scone. Our biscuit they call a cookie. There is some weird food too like pop tarts. Which is like a pastry you put in your toaster and it melts. I had a chocolate fudge one. They did not taste very nice. I've heard about grits and they don't sound very nice either. They are like porridge but cheesy and I'm sure, not nice. Now info about some of the animals at the Zoo.
First

Here are some baby stingrays we were not allowed to touch them because they still had their barbs in. Their diet consists of crabs, shellfish, fish, shrimp and brissle worms. They can grow four feet across and can weigh between 100-200 pounds. Now thats heavy.
Second

The Komodo Dragon is the biggest lizard in the world. Where they come from, the locals call them Ora Buaya Darat which means land crocodile or Biawak Raksasa which means giant moniter. The Komodo Dragon is known for its potentially lethal bite and their saliva is full of lethal bacteria that eventully kills its prey.

Third
This is a Pigmi Goat. It's smaller than a regular goat. My dad made me pat one goat. When Dad least expected it, the goat tried to eat the strap on the camera.
Fourth

This is a Pucu fish. Many people mistakenly call this fish a pirrahna which is a close relative. Dispite their teeth the pucu is a peacefull fish which eats mostly plants and alge. They can live in groups but sometimes the prefer to be alone.

Fifth

This is the Black Jaguar. This is my favourite animal at the zoo. It's so cool. They can run fast but not as fast as a cheetah. But they can still run 30 miles per hour and they prefer to hunt at night you can tell why it hunts at night as it's pitch black. Their greek name Pantherus Blackus and thats seriously what it's called.
And so that was my day at the zoo well not all of it but the most interesting bits of it hope you like this post. See ya'll soon.
